She first appeared on TV in the late 1990s before appearing in films like The Woods. Her career in acting began at the age of 11. She appeared in two shows on television, including the daytime show The Bold and the Beautiful that aired in 1999. Her first lead role as a performer took place on the screen in Blue Car (2002), an independent movie in which she portrayed a teenager who had an affair with David Strathairn as her high school teacher. Roger Ebert, a film critic, said Bruckner did a fantastic job in this difficult script with total conviction. Bruckner received nominations for the Independent Spirit Award for "Best female leading actress" for her performance in the film. She grew up with two siblings and a brother. They regularly practiced Hungarian to maintain her proficiency. Bruckner was an actress from California in Hollywood, was born into Hungarian parents as well as Russian mothers who had divorced. Bruckner's paternal grandmother was German. Her parents are Budapest-born parents who came to Hungary. Her family emigrated to the U.S.A. via Italian refugee camp in 1984. She has two sisters and one brother.
